No extra charge for dogs in all cable cars, however, a muzzle is required for transportation. Please note the leash requirement.

To the Zillertal mountain railways

• Stay calm and remain at the location where your dog went missing. Most dogs tend to return to the place they escaped from, even if it takes several hours!

The EU pet passport, often referred to as the vaccination passport, is your dog‘s travel document. You must carry it with you when crossing borders.

The passport should contain the following information:

• Name, age, and gender of the animal

• Microchip number

• Valid rabies vaccination

• Name and address of the pet owner

Along walking paths, free dog waste bags are provided. It is legally required to pick up dog waste and dispose of it in regular waste bins, even in fields and high mountain areas. The majority of fields are used for food production, and dog waste can spread diseases, posing a health risk to livestock and contaminating groundwater. Please note: There are often no dog waste bags or trash cans on the mountains. Please make sure you have enough dog waste bags with you and take your rubbish and your dog’s waste with you to the nearest trash can.

Since 2019, the State Police Act requires dog owners to keep their pets on a leash or muzzle in public places, town centers, and residential areas. In public transportation (including cable cars and excursion ships), at larger gatherings, kindergartens, school facilities, and similar places, leash and muzzle requirements apply.

In Austria, it is prohibited to have a dog leashed and running alongside a bicycle. If you want your dog to accompany you on your cycling trips, you can transport them in a specialized transport basket or a bicycle trailer, depending on their size.
