We are excited to announce the SAACnd Step Avalanche Awareness Camp in the Mayrhofen ski area, taking place from February 23 to 28, 2025! This camp is designed for those who have already participated in the basic SAAC Avalanche Awareness Camp and are looking to deepen their knowledge and skills in avalanche safety.

What to Expect:

Advanced Theoretical Insights: Over the course of the camp, you will receive in-depth theoretical knowledge about advanced avalanche risk assessment, decision-making processes in avalanche terrain, and the latest research in avalanche dynamics. Our expert instructors will provide you with cutting-edge information and strategies.

Hands-On Field Training: Practical sessions will be held in the stunning backcountry terrain of Mayrhofen. You will engage in complex scenarios that simulate real-life avalanche emergencies, including advanced search and rescue techniques, effective use of transceivers, probes, and shovels, and the implementation of strategic group management in hazardous areas.

Interactive Workshops and Networking: The camp includes interactive workshops that encourage group discussions, problem-solving exercises, and peer learning. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow advanced winter sports enthusiasts and professionals in the field.

Who Can Participate?

This advanced camp is open to winter sports enthusiasts who have completed the basic SAAC Avalanche Awareness Camp or have equivalent knowledge and experience in avalanche safety. Participants should have a good fitness level and be comfortable navigating off-piste terrain.
