Nature parks are protected natural and cultural landscapes that have evolved from the interaction of human and nature. The designation "nature park" is a predicate that can be awarded to large and important protected areas by the Tyrolean provincial government. The idea behind this distinction is to protect these grandiose natural jewels in the long term and at the same time to preserve and promote traditional uses - such as mountain farming or gentle tourism. The high mountain nature park has been under protection since 1991 and became the first Tyrolean nature park in 2001. Today, 422 km² on the Zillertal and Tux main ridge invite you to discover, move and relax!
